Director Finance – Michigan

A global leading manufacturer of safety solutions for the defense and security industries is looking for a Director of Finance experienced with manufacturing experience to join the company’s management in Walker, Michigan. Reporting directly to the company’s CEO, the position requires a proactive, independent and business oriented leader.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare or direct preparation of company financial statements in support of local management and parent
  • Prepare or direct preparation of Annual Budget, and Monthly Sales Forecasts, by project and by division
  • Perform on-going variance analysis, perform monthly Estimates at Complete (EAC), and provide real time risks and opportunity alerts
  • Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, financial analysis, quoting, and budgeting duties
  • Manage all aspects of working capital including cash flow, AP/AR, and Inventory
  • Responsible for new project estimating including pricing, basis of estimates and cost/price strategies
  • Support the development and preparation of complex proposal efforts and pricing schedules consistent with company policies, FAR, CAS, and solicitation requirements
  • Prepare or direct preparation of yearly overhead rates adhering to FAR rules
  • Analyze complex financial information, seek out financial opportunities for continuous improvement, identify internal targets, and partner with other leaders to drive accountability to the results
  • Development and maintenance of average costs, transfer pricing, and variance reporting
  • Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes with outside accounting firm
  • Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities
  • Work with external tax preparers to support annual tax returns
  • Monitor financial activities such as reserve levels to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met
  • Develop various reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills and qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Management, Accounting, Finance or related discipline, MBA preferred
  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred
  • 7-10+ years’ experience managing accounting and finance organizations required, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven record of financial analysis of business lines, projects, programs, and/or pricing required
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and DCAA regulations and requirements preferred
  • Experience with all types of contracts (Firm-Fixed Price, Cost Reimbursable, Time & Materials, and ID/IQ contracting)
  • Attention to detail; high degree of accuracy to ensure compliance with timelines, internal policies, laws and regulations
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Organized and very attentive to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and timelines
  • Ability to develop and communicate potential enhancements to operating processes and procedures
  • Ability to successfully interact with management and customers
  • Must have experience with ERP systems
